The First FDA Approved Inflatable Pool for Labor & Birth
NEW! Birth Pool in a Box
Until now, Cascade has never carried a birth pool because there was not one on the market that we felt was economical, safe, built with quality materials and environmentally friendly. Cascade always has the safety of our Mom’s and Babe’s as our number one priority!
So why did we choose Birth Pool in a Box? Each pool is affordable and designed with safety, practicality, comfort and resilience in mind, the new Birth Pool in a Box has now helped more than 7,000 women give birth both at home and in the hospital. Available in two models: personal home use or professional use for midwives, hospitals and birthing centers, each Birth Pool in a Box is:
Designed with safety in mind for Mom’s and Babe’s
Birth Pool in a Box is designed with safety, practicality, comfort and resilience in mind. While we have external handles for the comfort of Mom during labor, we have chosen to not have internal handles which can get in the way of Mom finding comfortable positions, allowing her to move freely in the water without fear of bumping into a hard handle and the baby can safely float to the surface with no obstacles to impede their path. Our heat covers secure firmly onto the outside of the tubs ensuring that nothing can slip underneath undetected, thus ensuring the safety and peace of mind for the entire family ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone..

New eco-friendly material
The new material in the Eco pool does not have additives that have been linked to harm in animals and people. BPIB is made from PVC. PVC requires softening additives (phthalates) to make it flexible. Phthalates have been linked to fertility problems in animals, and by extension, people. Alternative additives have been developed whose performance is close to that of phthalates and we have specified these for use in the Birth Pool in a Box. Hence the name Eco highlights the reduced impact on health and the environment.
Now includes disposable liner
Midwives advised that a new liner for the birth was a necessity from a hygiene perspective, while mothers wanted to be able to relax in late pregnancy or do trial-runs before the real thing. Using a liner also means two "containers" for the water, giving added protection against water leaks and makes cleaning up a snap - removing a distraction after the arrival of your new baby.
Deep enough to give buoyancy without compromising midwife support
The minimum recommended depth of water to provide buoyancy for a mother in labor is 18" (45cm) (Source: The Waterbirth Book by Janet Balaskas). New Birth Pool in a Box has an internal depth of 26" (66cm) and since the sides are stiff when inflated, you can fill water to a depth of 22".
New top handles added for control
Mothers asked for a means to control their movements while floating and some wanted additional gripping points.
Number of births (uses) per pool
The Personal use Eco Birth Pool in a Box is sold and considered as a “single use” pool, for multiple births and uses, we recommend the professional grade pool which is guaranteed for up to 20 inflations. A liner is simply used for each new woman/birth. If you are a pregnant mom and want to own your own birth pool so that you can use it for your next baby too, this is the best one on the market.
The Professional Grade pools are guaranteed for 20 inflations, though some hospitals and have reported up to 30-40 inflations without fail . The number of inflations is subject to all kinds of variables, including how you store the pool, what the outside temperature is, how long it is left up and how often it is inflated and deflated. Treat either model with respect and kindness and they will last longer.
Approximate time to inflate-5-25 minutes, depending on the type of inflator.
Water Capacity-172 US Gallons
Weight when filled-657kg/1430 lbs excluding the mothers weight.
Approximate filling time-40 minutes to 3 hours (depending on your water pressure and the size of your hot water tank.)
Three independent chambers for improved safety
The sides of Birth Pool in a Box are made of 3 independent tubular chambers stacked on top of each other. If one of them should puncture by accident, only 1/3 of the wall height will be lost.
Comfortable and welcoming
This doesn't look like a medical device! It is welcoming and the inflated sides are comfortable to rest upon. This is conducive to your relaxation which will enhance the production of the hormone oxytocin, speeding up your labor.
